ATG Associates Volunteer 5,900 Hours During Annual Week of Service

SPARKS, MD -- 07/11/17 -- Apex Tool Group associates again showed their community spirit by “Building Communities, Together” during our second annual Global Week of Service, held May 22-26.  With more projects, more volunteers and more hours than ever before, ATG not only rolled up its sleeves to lend a hand for neighborhood organizations, we also donated over 1,000 tools to nonprofit agency partners.

Teams from all of our global locations tackled 38 projects during our Week of Service, with over 900 associates donating a total of 5,900 volunteer hours in that timeframe.  Here are some highlights:

Europe:  Our enthusiastic associates in Besigheim, Bevaix, Braunschweig, Emmen, Ozoir, Tamworth and Westhausen upgraded facilities and even organized an athletic festival.  In Westhausen, we built a handicapped-accessible patio, gazebo and garden trail for the residents of Samariterstift.  And in Ozoir, we held a sports tournament for foster care and refugee children at agency Espoir CFDJ (photo at left).

Latin America:  Our ambitious volunteer projects in Cali, Queretaro, Sorocaba and Tlalnepantla supported nonprofits and schools. In Sorocaba, we held a massive food drive, collecting over 10,000 food and health items for those in need, and made repairs at a neighborhood youth center.  In Tlalnepantla, we helped spruce up Quinta San Isidro, a nonprofit that serves special needs children.

Asia:  Our energetic teams in Hong Kong, Pune, Albury, Shandong, Shanghai, Suzhou and Taichung were warmly welcomed by thankful organizations.  In Hong Kong, we helped Food Angel HK rescue surplus food so hungry neighbors can enjoy nutritious meals (photo at left).  In Shanghai, we offered free bike repairs using our SATA tools, and picked up litter in local parks.  We also visited senior centers to bring smiles and share memories with our respected elders.

U.S. and Canada:  Our hard-working crews in Apex, Auburn Hills, Charlotte, Chicago, Dayton, Jonesboro, Lexington, Mississauga, Sparks (see photo at left), St. Catharines, Sumter, Walworth and York tackled transformational projects in their communities.  For example, in Jonesboro we repaired the Miracle League’s baseball facility to make sure that special needs kids could experience the joy of summer baseball.  We also volunteered at several local Habitat for Humanity house builds, and worked at neighborhood food banks.

At ATG, we are very proud of how our associates give back to make our communities a better place to work, learn, play and thrive. We’re already looking forward to making new friends and supporting terrific organizations during our 2018 Week of Service . . . stay tuned!
