ATG Wins Gold, Silver at 2017 Edison Awards

SPARKS, MD 05/12/17 -- Last month at an awards ceremony in New York City, two products developed by ATG received top honors at the 2017 Edison Awards, a prestigious 30-year old design competition that honors the best in innovation and excellence in the development of new products and services.

Accepting ATG’s Silver Edison Award are Randi Ligon, Director, Product Management, Private Label Products and Jonathan Beckwith, Studio Engineering Manager.

The unique design of the Craftsman® Flex Claw Hammer Gold Edison winner, developed by ATG, allows the user to drive nails with precision, as well as pry boards with excellent access and leverage thanks to a jointed head with four different clawing positions.  The Silver Edison winner Crescent® Grip Zone™ Tongue and Groove Pliers features a non-marring grip integrated into the handles to work on chrome finish fixtures without damage. A unique tooth design in the jaws increases gripping power, allowing more torque with less effort.  In 2016, these pliers also won a Bronze award in the 36th annual International Design Excellence Awards® (IDEA®).

This is the second consecutive win for Apex Tool Group; in 2016 the company was voted a Bronze winner for its Craftsman Extreme Grip Socket Set.  Being recognized with an Edison Award has become one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the name of innovation and business. The awards are named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) whose inventions, new product development methods and innovative achievements garnered him 1,093 U.S. patents, and made him a household name around the world.
